60 Seconds with....Megann'e Murrin
BFW: Tell us a bit about your collections, your influences, your muses (if you have any), your background? I come from an eccentric artistic family and this is where my love for everything artistic comes from. I
didn't discover fashion untill later on in my late teens when I did a course in
fine art and fashion and ended up unveiling my love for the subject. Fast
forward 6 years I am now a graduate from UCA Rochester and am trying to get my name
heard with my eccentric designs.
My collection consists of print and leather mixing unusual fabrics together to create a totally unique
look. My influence in this collection is armour and the thought of what
alien armour would look like, how the human race would have to mimic the alien
race if forced to cohabit. A very masculine concept for such a feminine
collection but this was my main driving force for the collection to feminise the
concept but still keep very much alive the concept in hand. The prints for the
collection are my own enterpretations of what I would consider alien skin to look
like. The collection has three different elements all completely different
but all tied together by a core silhouette.
BFW:
What gets you out of bed in the morning? My animals crying to be fed.
BFW: What was the first thing you did when you woke up this morning? I cannot rember I only had 3 hours sleep it was all a blur.....I hope I did feed the animals
though!
BFW: Sum up your style in three words. My own style is: layering, colourful and unique. Label style is: modern, colourfull and unique.
BFW: If you were a piece of clothing what would you be and why? A little black dress as your outfit is basically complete in one garment the little black dress is loved
more than any other garment a woman can own she can rely on that little black
dress in times of need when she cannot find anything else, when nothing matches
or works with her shoes her little black dress will never fail her
BFW: If you could have anyone, who would you want to model your collections and why? Sasha Pivovarova she is just stunning and has the perfect look I go for when considering models for my
collection, she is different looking and unique just like my collection.
BFW: New York, Paris or London? LONDON - never forget your roots.

BFW: You are given the opportunity to redesign the Police uniform, what would you do? Less bulky and less masculine for women keep it black as black is slimming and suits all as you have to
please everyone keep the white shirt for men and lose it for women. Give them a
nice blouse to keep the look feminine, get rid of the shoes completely it is the 21st century after all and those shoes should be kept in the 90’s - my grandad wouldnt
even wear them! And totally scrap the hat.
BFW: Favourite thing about the fashion industry? Designing. I am a hugely creative person and being allowed the freedom to design is priceless and totally
wonderful it is like a drug to me and I never want it to stop.
BFW: Worst thing? There is a lot of good and bad parts to everything in life fashion being definitely one of the worst, for
that 80% that is bad there is 20% that is priceless and totally wonderfull worth
all the tiers and tantrums it is golden and this is what gets me up every
morning and what keeps me going for over 12 hours a day, 365 days a year because
that small slice of wonderfulness makes all the bad disapear and evaporate.
BFW: Best moment in your life so far? Watching my collection for the first time go down the runway and the reception I received after was just the best feeling in
the world and makes me strive to do it again and again.
BFW:
Top fashion designer? David Koma at the moment is a huge love of mine I am currently working on owning one of his coats.
BFW:
Who’s the best dressed person you’ve ever met? My aunt. She is my idol and always has been from very young I wanted to look like her even be her, I love
her with all my heart and not only is she my aunt but my best friend she never
fails to impress with style. It is effortless, it comes naturally to her,
she is why I love colour and print and she has moulded the way I look at life
through colour and print.
BFW: Favourite thing about Brighton? The lifestyle, the freedom of sexuality and diverse mixture of people that makes one of Britain's best cities.
BFW: Most prized personal possession? My cat (Big Boy) he cost me a fortune but I would pay it ten times over to have him, he is my angel apart from that I have a
vintage MaxMara coat in colbalt blue wool that I brought from a charity shop for
£4 and it has never failed me since with style and warmth along with untold
amounts of comments by complete strangers.
BFW:
Where do you see yourself in five years? On my way to becoming a top designer and having my collections on the runways in London Fashion Week and in
boutiques around the fashion capitals of the world.
