All White

Date: 19th January 2012
Location: Grand Parade, Seminar Room 102b. Easily Minus 50 Degrees Centigrade.
Lecture: Colour Trend

Sat very uncomfortably in what was seemingly the coldest room in the University, I looked on as the Lecturer discussed the merits and failings of colours throughout the seasons. As I tuned back in to the end of her sentence ‘Of course, nobody would dream of wearing white in winter’, I caught her eye. ‘Well…except you, it seems. Maybe if you wish to pursue a career in this industry you should reconsider that’. Mortified, in my favourite vintage lace number, I reddened. Returning to lectures the following day dressed head to toe in black.

A week after the initial shock and embarrassment of learning that white ‘is not a colour for the winter wardrobe’, (It’s the colour of snow- is it not?!) I am writing this week in defiance of those who dictate my choice of clothing on a dreary January day.

Dedicated to my Mama, who fully supports the cause of all that is White in the world, and perhaps the reason I too have taken this standpoint; have a little glimpse at some AllWhite pieces that I love.

Whether teamed with black to give a monochromatic edge (As seen at Emporio Armani S/S ’12), Textured by Valentina Poletti, or worn teetering dangerously close to Swan Lake territory (Seen at Givenchy and Chanel). I stand by my lovely white shift dress; cap sleeved button up and vast collection of white t-shirts Year Round, and say it’s AllWhite!

Who’s with me?

What A ‘Swishing’ Sunday!

Remember that film...Confessions of a Shopaholic. Isla Fisher plays the role of serial shopper Rebecca Bloomwood. The film ends with a huge auction of Rebecca's wardrobe where avid fashionistas scream, scrap and fight over who gets that famous green scarf...well, that is pretty much what a swapping event consists of!

There's more to flora than floral

I've always loved floral prints as they're pretty and feminine and can usually instantly brighten an outfit, and your whole day. But how about going a step further down the 'flora' route and wearing clothes and accessories featuring leaves, plants and trees?
